The vibrant, cosmopolitan city of Leeds is the largest legal and financial centre outside London and is divided by the River Aire and the lengthy Leeds to Liverpool canal. Unofficially the ‘Capital of Yorkshire’ Leeds has a large insurance sector, engineering, printing and publishing, food and drinks, chemical and medical technology, not forgetting our Universities, a new Channel 4 base and teaching Hospitals which care for more patients than anywhere else in the North of England and is one of the largest teaching hospitals in Europe.
The restoration & development of flagship cultural and sporting venues makes Leeds cultural offer unrivalled. It is home to Opera North, Northern Ballet, Phoenix Dance Theatre and the First direct Arena along with Yorkshire Cricket, Leeds Rhinos, Leeds United and the John Charles Centre for Sport, which was used by the Chinese and Dutch Olympic teams. This is combined with an extensive choice of bars, cafes, cinemas and award winning restaurants.
